In 2003 Joshua Schachter named his social bookmarking site "Delicious" when he heard a friend refer to finding good links as "eating cherries" (which reminds of me of the satirical "If life is a bowl of cherries what am I doing in the pits?" by Erma Bombeck - note add to Librarything)
Apart from having a novel domain name, Delicious is an excellent substitute for the trusty wirebound notebook in which I currently scribble down what I hope are the significant title words in a "good website". These scribblings seldom find their way to my PC or if they do, lie buried in the myriad confusions of my Favourites list.
By consigning them all to Delicious I will have access to them no matter which PC I use and will probably be able to find them more readily thanks to tags.
In a work situation, when answering reference queries, what could be better than having access to the National Library of Australia's Delicious tagging account.
I like your Delicious Bookmarks! Very beautiful done! I still rate Delicious and LibraryThing high in my personal evaluation of the Web 2.0 coursework
ReplyDeleteYes I must agree. Delicious is great for professional and personal uses and LibraryThing is a great addition to our library catalogue.
ReplyDeleteThe creation of a tag cloud is a beautiful thing! It gives great insight into personalities.
